Turkish Airlines allow you to travel with your pets with some conditions and restrictions. That’s why Turkish airlines have a pet policy that includes various terms and conditions related to pets. When you fly with Turkish airlines, you should follow the terms and restrictions to prevent delays and travel in comfort and safety with your pets. If any additional fee has been applied then it should be paid at the airport. It is recommended that before Turkish airlines booking and flying with Turkish airlines, you should read carefully and understand the Turkish airline’s pet policy.

Accepting Pets onto the Aircraft
If you want to transport your pet in a cabin or aircraft hold, the reservations must be made and confirmed before 6 hours of the departure of flight because there is a capacity limit on the number of animals that will be carried on every aircraft. Your pet weight should not be exceeded 8 kg including cage weight also and the size of the cage or container should not be exceeded 23 cm height x 30 cm width x 40 cm length. The container or cage of the pet should be soft and big enough so that your pets can stand easily in the container.
Passengers have to keep in mind that transportation of pets is not included in baggage allowance and you have to pay for your pet’s reservations or allowances. Check-in for pets will be processed at check-in counters at the airport and you have to make sure that you have mentioned your name, surname, address, telephone number, number of animals, and the name of your pet or pets on the label affixed on the container of your pet. Also, you must have to carry medical reports and a certificate of vaccination with ID details or any other important documents of your pets at the time of check-in.
Pet permitted to be carried within the flight cabin
Turkish airlines allow some pets such as cats, dogs, and small singing birds (parakeets, canaries) in the cabin with passengers. If any pet finds allergic to other animals with a medical report then it will be accepted in the cabin but in some conditions includes:
Guidelines of Passengers traveling with in-cabin pets
- Carrier of the pet should be fit underneath the seat in front of the passenger and pet should feel comfortable in that container.
- Passengers cannot choose the seat which is located in the emergency exit rows or or infant stroller apparatus while flying with their pets in the aircraft cabin.
- If any passengers have any allergy and want to travel with their pets on the same flight then the request for making the first reservation will be confirmed.
- If any passengers which have any allergy requests for traveling on the same USA flight with an assistance dog then assistance dogs always be in precedence.
Transporting pets in aircraft hold
If any pets have reservations in the cabin and the container size has been exceeded standard dimensions or weight limits then the pet will not be acceptable in the cabin and it will be transported in aircraft hold in special containers. Your pet’s container size should be sufficient for them and the container must be properly ventilated and watertight for the comfortability of your pets. You also have to keep in mind that the label must be affixed to the containers which include your pet’s information.
Animals prohibited from flying
Turkish airlines restrict some of the pets to travel onto the aircraft as per international aviation regulations. These Pets include Dogs posing danger such as American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Pitbull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro. But some of the pets or breeds like American Bulldog, Bandog Tosa Inu, Caucasian Ovcharka, Dogue De Bordeaux, Doberman (Pincher Doberman and all Doberman breeds), Presa Canario, Rottweiler; Mastiff (excluding Bull Mastiff), Wolf-Dog Hybrid breeds are only allowed to flights and will be transported in aircraft hold by cargo unit.
