Copa Airlines Baggage Policy And Fees For Your Backpack

Copa airlines are making changes to their baggage policy information for the different regions. You may allow free baggage depending on your types of Copa airlines tickets and the route of your international or domestic flight. The baggage allowance depends on your travel point of origin and destination. There are some rules to baggage weight and size, overweight and oversize baggage are not allowed. 

Checked Baggage Allowance

Passengers may have to pay some baggage allowance or fees if they carry any extra bag, overweight, or oversize and restricted items while baggage embargo periods. Baggage allowance will depend on your date of travel, arrival and departure destination, fare class, and PreferMember status. 

Keep in Mind
  • Passengers cannot transfer their weight and baggage allowance per passenger to any other passengers. 
  • Taxes applied to baggage fees will be based on origin country.
  • Exceeding Baggage items and exceeding weight or size will be allowed according to the available space in the aircraft.

Checked Baggage Size

  • Each baggage size should be 62 inches (158 cm) combined height + length + width and wheels are not considered in the measurement of the baggage.
  • Baggage which is measured 63 inches (159 cm) to 115 inches (294 cm) will be considered as excess baggage and passengers have to pay an extra amount.
  • Luggage which is measured more than 115 inches (294 cm) will not be accepted as baggage by the aircraft team and it will be transported as cargo.

Overweight and Oversize Fees (per bag)

  • If passengers carry overweight baggage between 24 – 32kg (51 – 70 lb) then you should pay $100 for each baggage or 33 – 45kg (71 – 100 lb) you must have to pay $200. 
  • If passengers carry oversize baggage combined height + length + width = 63 inches (159 cm) – 115 inches (294 cm) then they have to pay USD 150 per baggage.

Carry-On Baggage

Most of the passengers carry their luggage during the flight but one thing you must keep in mind is that your luggage must fit easily in the overhead bin. The measuring size of the carry-on baggage item is up to 46 linear inches (118 cm): 22 inches (56 cm) high + 14 inches (36 cm) long + 10 inches (26 cm) wide and it does not include suitcase wheels. 

If your carry-on baggage is more than the above measurements, it will be considered as the checked luggage and you will have to pay the appropriate charges for your weighted luggage. More light carry-on luggage will be more beneficial.

Passengers can carry one personal item within the flight. And personal items include:

The above musical instrument size should be up to 115 combined linear inches (294cm) and the weight of the musical instrument is up to 45kg and the applied fee on the musical item is $150. Sometimes it happens that due to more weighted items your instrument will be damaged. In this case, Copa Airlines will never be responsible and it is advised to book an extra seat for your weighted musical instrument.

Perishable items

Passengers should have to pack their perishable items in the containers with dry ice and the containers should be made of plastic. The size of the perishable item should never be more than 4.4lb(2kg). It may happen that your items will be damaged due to flight delays. In that case, Copa Airlines will not be responsible for it.
